This client from the Lanaudière region contacted us to create a personalized design that would meet all of these needs. He wanted to have a patio with a pergola that would connect the house to the existing swimming pool. In addition, the layout had to allow for the integration of a dining area, a space sheltered from the wind for the barbecue and a cabin. It was also necessary to provide storage space.
So we designed a single level patio that would bring all the areas together to create a whole. It is made of TimberTech composite, a maintenance-free material. At the exit of the house, We have placed the dining area. Close to the kitchen, it is the ideal place to facilitate service. Right next door, the barbecue is leaned against a wall to cut the wind. We attached a composite bar to have a work surface while chatting with guests.
A large raw hemlock timberframe pergola shelters these two sections. It is in two stages, that is to say that it has one portion which is equipped with a retractable sail and the other which is not. This sail therefore allows the occupants to eat sheltered from the sun if they wish. Then the wall behind the barbecue has a dual function. It is also one of the cabin partitions. This small space placed at the end of the pergola is very practical. He avoids going back and forth in the house to change after getting out of the pool. In addition, it creates privacy from side neighbors.
The pool patio is on the same level, therefore simply demarcated by 48 inch railings. The glass ramps provide a clear view towards it to make it easier to supervise children. This is the Murano model from Aluminum Distinction. The other sides have Standard rung rails. Finally, we hid storage in the skirt under the patio. It is made of Western red cedar stained Black Onyx from Sansin, just like the walls of the cabin. The storage space is accessible through a double door on the side. We can therefore say that it is a beautiful integration of several needs which form a whole in terms of the look of this patio with pergola.
