Welcome to our store
A gazebo is an outdoor structure detached from the house and equipped with a solid roof. It is often called a garden pavilion and mainly serves as a place to relax. Equipped with openings which sometimes incorporate fixed or retractable mosquito nets, it is a comfortable space to make the most of your yard, sheltered from the sun, bad weather and insects.
In the 18th century, garden pavilions were very popular among the British and French. Today, many are found in the southern United States and on the Mediterranean coasts. They are increasingly used by families in Quebec to extend the summer season.
Whether you are looking to create a dining, relaxation or even spa space, you can integrate all the accessories you want into your gazebo and thus recreate a room of the house, outside.
A well-designed wooden gazebo should completely protect you from the sun's rays, which is why its design as well as its geographical orientation are very important.
Gazebos can be equipped with removable curtains or canvases (electric or manual) and/or fixed in order to enjoy the sun whenever you want. It is possible to integrate them on the sides to protect you throughout the day.
Since gazebos are usually tall and large structures, they are subject to certain constraints due to wind and significant lateral bracing is to be expected.
In addition, the gazebo is likely to have to withstand a significant amount of snow which could eventually accumulate on its roof. It must therefore be designed to withstand our climate.
At Pur Patio, our solid wood gazebo structures are assembled using traditional methods and modern fixings. It is this mixture that ensures we build solid and visually impeccable gazebos of all styles and for all tastes!
Traditional assembly is a method which aims to machine wood to create tenons and mortises which will fit together during assembly on site. Technical plans must be produced and the timberframe is worked in the workshop before going to the construction site.
Assembly with fasteners may or may not require slight machining beforehand, depending on the type of fastener that is used. We will need to prepare the openings for the concealed fixings in the workshop. However, if they are exposed fixings, the final look will have a more industrial style and they will be installed directly on site during the assembly of the structure.
In order to build gazebos that are as beautiful as they are durable, we favor the use of wood for the structures. That’s good, because working with wood is one of our specialties!
Wood species such as western red cedar, white pine and hemlock are good choices for this type of exterior structure. To ensure great strength, we favor pieces 6''x6'' and larger for the main elements of the structure.
The ceilings of our gazebos are made of paneling, decking or wooden planks, depending on the finish of the roof. The choice of ceiling will not be the same for a flat roof, with a slight slope or with two pronounced slopes for example.
As for the roof, you can opt for a membrane, a corrugated steel roof, an asphalt shingle roof or an architectural (metal) roof. The choices are numerous!
