Azek PVC XXL patio with timberframe veranda - St-Donat de Montcalm, Laurentians

We designed a 672 sq ft main patio, providing an exceptional surface for large gatherings, with fluid circulation to the house. A 264 sq ft timberframe veranda creates an impressive architectural volume, featuring a decking ceiling, integrated low walls, and mosquito screens for use until fall.

The Rain Escape system drains water under the patio for maximum durability, while a stained cedar skirt with 2 doors maximizes storage. Aluminum Distinction Murano railings with clear glass (86 linear ft) provide elegance and security, and a 12 sq ft Azek bar counter becomes the heart of evenings.

• Foundation on 10 10" x 7' galvanized helical piles for perfect stability despite the Laurentians' climate.
• Structure made of premium ACQ treated wood with G-Tape, joist hangers, and preservative on every cut.
• Decking in Azek Vintage PVC, Coastline color, Camo clips, and Cortex screws for a flawless look.
• Skirt made of Western Red Cedar stained Sansin Onyx Black, sanded and stained in the workshop.
• Aluminum Distinction Murano 2020 black railings with clear glass, variable height 38" and 44".
• Timberframe veranda made of planed white pine (4"x6", 4"x8", 6"x6", 6"x10") stained Espresso/Onyx Black, with red cedar crossbeams, and pine ceiling and low walls.
• Rothoblaas fasteners (F70100L, Alumidi120, Simplex16), Hideaway Maui cutouts, fixed screens + Slide Clear retractable screens.

This choice of materials ensures durability, a modern rustic aesthetic, and minimal maintenance.

Lighting is central to this project with 29 in-Lite lights for a magical ambiance.

• 11 Puck 22 Dark in the risers to guide steps.
• 4 Halo up-down Dark on the veranda columns to highlight the structure.
• 2 Disc Pendant Dark above the dining area for warm light.
• 5 Mini Scope to illuminate the cutouts and the veranda.

Controlled by a HUB-150 3-zone transformer with smart timer.

This major project was carried out in 3 distinct phases to guarantee exceptional quality:

• 5 days for the complete construction of the patio (posts, structure, Azek PVC, stained skirt, glass railings, bar counter and lighting).
• 5 days in the workshop for the precise machining of the veranda's timber frame, sanding and 2-coat staining (Espresso/Onyx Black).
• 4-5 additional days for the final installation of the veranda, decking ceiling, low walls, Hideaway cutouts, mosquito screens and finishes.

Total: approximately 14-15 working days, with perfect coordination between the site and the workshop to deliver an impeccable architectural result.

The client now enjoys an XXL terrace for large events, a timberframe veranda for extending evenings, a practical bar counter, and lighting that transforms the yard into a magical place at night. The landscaping becomes the heart of family and friend gatherings, with a contemporary rustic aesthetic and exceptional durability.
