The mandate was to design a sunroom for the homeowners, providing them with a covered outdoor space to enjoy the summer. We therefore constructed a traditional timber-frame structure using Western red cedar beams and columns. The flooring is also cedar and extends beyond the sunroom to provide access to the yard. Furthermore, screens cover all openings, ensuring the occupants are protected from mosquitoes in the evenings. To enhance the enjoyment of time spent outdoors, recessed lighting is installed in the ceiling. Black aluminum railings, the Standard model from Aluminium Distinction, secure the entire structure. Finally, the space beneath the patio is used for children's swings and for storage.
