This impressive timber-framed veranda overlooks the lake, offering a tranquil setting to admire magnificent sunsets. We built it following a custom design project we completed for these clients. They wanted an extension of their home to the lake to enjoy the stunning view, regardless of the weather, and protected from mosquitoes. We also had to include a weatherproof shed underneath and an uncovered patio to soak up the sun.

First, the rough-sawn pine timberframe veranda is assembled using mortise and tenon joints and bolts. The entire timberframe is stained Chesapeake by Sansin. The ceiling, back and side walls, and storage space under the patio are made of natural-colored cedar. The flooring is Trex Enhance Basic composite in Clam Shell. This is a maintenance-free material, much to the delight of the homeowners.

The patio extends beyond the veranda to create a sun-drenched outdoor terrace. Contemporary gray aluminum railings from the Distinction range encircle the two sides facing the lake. Standard railings provide safety on all other sides. Beneath the veranda, storage is protected from the rain. Accessible via a large sliding door, it allows for easy storage of sports and leisure equipment once the summer season is over.
