The main mandate of this design was to design a maintenance-free and safe patio that would last over time. We had to include two sections, a dining room and a lounge, in addition to a pergola to limit the occupants' exposure to the sun. However, the view had to remain clear towards the back of the yard.
We designed a patio plan on two levels and with large steps that open the space from the house to the land. It is made of Azek Vintage PVC in Weathered Teak. It is a warm shade that easily blends with other elements and is timeless. A small portion of skirt, in Azek Vintage PVC in Dark Hickory, closes the bottom to ensure a beautiful finish.
At the exit of the house, we positioned the dining room, sheltered by a Toja pergola. It is made of rough hemlock with rafters in Western red cedar stained Onyx Black by Sansin. Woven shade sails alternate to create the necessary protection against the sun. The pergola is solid and sturdy thanks to the Rothoblass F70140L fasteners that allow it to be attached to the patio. To embellish the structure, a hybrid privacy wall partitions one of the sides. The Moderna aluminum cutout by Hideaway as well as the Veradek planters give character to the decor.
On the second level of the maintenance-free patio, we find the lounge. It is much closer to the ground and this is what allows the view of the yard to be clear from the house. A half-wall surrounds the back to wrap around the area. The other sections of the perimeter are secured with Standard bar railings from Aluminum Distinction. The large corner staircase opens to the entire yard and allows for optimal circulation.
To extend the evenings outdoors, several In-Lite lighting fixtures are placed throughout the layout. On the first landing, there is a Disc Pendant above the table, while Hyve are recessed into the ground to illuminate the columns of the pergola. Mini-Wedges illuminate the privacy walls on both landings, since they are added to the top of the Hoft posts. Finally, Puck 22s illuminate the risers of this superb design.
