Design description

The custom design we created for this client aimed to unify her backyard. The goal was to connect the house's entrance to her pool and main patio. Several zones needed to be incorporated, including a barbecue area, an outdoor dining space, a lounge, and a spa area. She wanted a low-maintenance material and a timeless look for her patio, so we opted for Azek Vintage PVC in English Walnut.

Just outside the house is the first landing, featuring a barbecue and a small counter for food preparation. A gazebo, constructed with Toja fasteners for 6x6 rough-cut lumber and natural hemlock, shelters this area. In addition to its proximity to the patio door, the corrugated steel roof protects residents from rain and snow, making barbecue cooking easy at any time.

A low wall enhances the structure behind the barbecue. It's made of Sansin Onyx Black stained Western Red Cedar planks. In the center are Veradek Quadra galvanized steel cutouts. The entire structure is mounted on Hoft posts. Just beside it, the Distinction Murano aluminum railing provides access to the pool patio. It has a clever little feature: the center of the flooring is Weathered Teak colored, ensuring that this area is cooler underfoot.

The main deck is closer to the ground, allowing for maximum privacy without enclosing the space. It houses the lounge area and the outdoor dining area. Both are sheltered under a pergola, also constructed with Toja fittings and natural hemlock. The lounge area's roof is openwork, featuring rafters of Western Red Cedar stained Onyx Black, while the dining area is fully enclosed with Graphite-colored Toja fabric. This distinction between the two gives each a unique style.
