We designed this cedar patio with a gazebo to create a welcoming outdoor living space. We wanted the occupants to be able to enjoy beautiful summer days sheltered from the sun and rain. It is made entirely of Western Red Cedar with black metal balusters for the railings.

First, we dedicated the ground floor to the barbecue area and bar for happy hour. It's also a pleasant spot to enjoy a good coffee while reading the newspaper in the morning. The layout allows for a traditional barbecue in addition to a small charcoal grill. The bar also serves as a railing. We've also left enough space next to the bar for easy access to the clothesline.

As an added bonus, a small corner near the patio door allows us to hang spice racks. Behind the barbecues, we installed a privacy wall. It's made of Sansin Onyx Black stained Western Red Cedar and mounted on black aluminum posts. It also serves as a railing on this side of the patio, in addition to defining the area.

Next, on the lower landing, we created the lounge and dining areas. The proximity of these two spaces makes them ideal for gatherings with family and friends. Furthermore, the modern gazebo, crafted from planed white pine, completely covers the landing. It's stained in Sansin's Espresso and Onyx Black to add a striking touch to the décor while complementing the rest of the design. Its corrugated plastic roof allows light to filter through while limiting direct sunlight. String lights are added to the gazebo to create a beautiful ambiance in the evening.

Finally, the height of the first landing on the cedar patio allowed us to conceal storage within its skirting. It's accessible through a side door. In short, it's a perfect place to store a lot of things without it being obvious!
