Our client commissioned us to design a patio that would include a pool area as well as a dining and lounge area. He also wanted to maintain maximum privacy from his side and rear neighbors.

We therefore chose to design a first level, at the height of the patio door. It primarily serves as a pool deck. We installed a staircase to facilitate access to the yard on this side and to the storage space located beneath the deck. We also took care not to obstruct the space needed for the clothesline. To ensure privacy, we built a fairly high wooden wall on the side facing the nearest neighbors. The other sides are enclosed by 48-inch-high aluminum railings with a self-closing gate to ensure the safety and compliance of the area.

The entire structure is held in place by a pergola that connects this area to the next. We then decided to position the dining area much lower to increase its privacy. A section of the pergola overhangs it, providing partial sun protection for its occupants. It can accommodate four to six people. It is very secluded, protected by the height of the pool patio, a wooden privacy wall for the rear neighbors, and the back of the bench on the next level for the other side.

The privacy wall extends into the lounge area, which is almost at ground level. A custom-built banquette and a small gas fireplace are integrated into this space. This section is large enough to accommodate additional chairs for evenings around the fire with friends.
