This vast, intimate terrace, which we built right in the heart of the city, allows us to escape as if we were on a resort vacation thanks to its spacious and airy sections. It includes a dining area, a lounge area, a reading and relaxation corner, and a custom-built bar. We constructed it using Trex composite decking in the Havana Gold color from the Transcend Tropical range. We chose this color for its warm, wood-like look, but without the maintenance.

The lounge area was created at the patio door's exit at the owners' request. We enclosed it with a wooden screen around its entire perimeter to ensure security and privacy. We positioned the dining area on the other side, near the kitchen window. The custom-built bar is placed under the window to create a serving hatch to the outdoor dining area. It can easily accommodate 6 to 8 people, in addition to those seated at the bar. We also positioned the barbecue in front of the privacy wall. This entire section is covered by a timber-frame pergola with a retractable shade sail, allowing occupants to shade themselves from the sun if desired.

The privacy wall continues, extending slightly lower, to accommodate a custom-built bench that will serve as a reading and relaxation area. We installed it in the corner in an L-shape, allowing for complete privacy while enjoying the sun. We enclosed the terrace below with a wooden skirting for a more polished finish. Finally, we offered the clients two color choices for the screens, the privacy wall, and the skirting. We suggested they keep them in their natural color for a warmer, softer look, or stain them gray, which would add a touch of modernity and character to the design.
