This client contacted us for a remote design project to create a modern patio. He wanted to build it himself but needed ideas for the layout and wanted professional assistance. We therefore designed a plan that met his criteria: a wooden patio, a large area on one level, and not attached to the pool. This patio needed to accommodate a lounge area, a dining area, a relaxation space, a barbecue with a preparation counter, and an outdoor workspace.

We designed a large patio for her, crafted from Western Red Cedar stained in its natural color, with railings in Sansin Onyx Black stained cedar and black metal balusters. The interplay of natural and black tones accentuates the patio's modern look. Beneath it, we added a cedar skirt, also stained black, which conceals a storage space accessible through a side door. Ambient lighting illuminates the risers.

As for the layout, we designed a custom structure for the lounge area. It consists of a banquette with integrated privacy walls and a pergola. We added black galvanized steel cutouts with openwork geometric patterns. The counter near the barbecue echoes this structure, as it shares the same shapes and colors. These two distinctive and unique elements set the tone for the entire space.

We separated the relaxation area from the barbecue area with a spice rack, which is handy for meal preparation. The remaining space on the patio is enough to set up an outdoor dining area for 6 to 8 people. Finally, we suggested a removable shelf to create the necessary workspace. This shelf can be hung directly on the railings and stored away when not in use.
