These clients entrusted us with the task of designing a modern, partially covered terrace. First, it needed to include an outdoor kitchen adjacent to the house's kitchen, creating an extension of the living space. This would be located on the second floor of their prefabricated home. However, given the hilly terrain, they also wanted direct access to this space from the ground. Therefore, we designed a terrace using Azek PVC decking. We chose the Coastline color from the Vintage collection. Furthermore, it includes a walkway connecting the upper part of the property to the patio.
First, the covered section houses the fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a bar, as well as the dining and lounge areas. Aluminum columns support the flat roof. Around the perimeter, each opening has motorized retractable screens, allowing occupants to protect themselves from mosquitoes in the evening. The ceiling, with recessed lighting, is made of Sansin Espresso-stained cedar. On the walkway side, the screens are fixed. A privacy wall made of cedar slats, stained the same as the ceiling, also provides privacy along its entire length. Finally, a screened door provides access from the walkway.
The outdoor kitchen is an extension of the house kitchen. It features stainless steel modules offering ample storage. The countertops are also stainless steel. In addition, the kitchen includes a barbecue with a side burner, a sink, and a Dark Hickory colored Azek Vintage PVC bar for optimal use.
Lately, the uncovered section of the patio has been used for relaxation and sunbathing. Two lounge chairs are placed there. Since the lake is on this side, the railings securing the perimeter of the terrace are made of clear glass, without frames or handrails. They are the Pure model from Aluminium Distinction. This combination of colors and materials gives it a modern and sleek look. It's safe to say that this terrace is more than complete for enjoying the warmer months, with the added bonus of a view of the water!
