This young couple asked us to design an outdoor space with a modern sunroom that would complement their new home. We built a Trex Transcend composite patio in Gravel Path. This allowed us to position the sunroom and barbecue area near the front door. One of the two patio doors opens directly into the sunroom, while the other leads outside. Behind the barbecue, we installed a screen. It's made of Sansin Western Red Cedar stained Espresso and mounted on black aluminum posts.
The veranda blends seamlessly with the house, its clean, straight lines creating a harmonious look. It's constructed from a timber frame of planed white pine, stained in Sansin's Onyx Black and Espresso. The railings are panelled walls on the front and side, while the rear features glass panels to open up the view to the backyard. The veranda also includes a screened door providing easy access to the barbecue area. Pine transoms and black galvanized steel cutouts with geometric patterns were added to give the structure character and enhance the design. The ceiling is made of Western Red Cedar planks, also stained Espresso, and the veranda roof is flat. Mosquito neatly screens enclose the remaining spaces, ensuring that the occupants aren't an easy meal for mosquitoes.
In addition, we incorporated storage under the patio. There are double doors in the skirting on either side. It's made of Western Red Cedar stained Onyx Black. Its planks of varying widths give it a modern look. Next, we installed pendant lights in the veranda ceiling as well as ambient lighting in the risers. Finally, the large paved area provides space for a relaxation zone with lounge chairs and a fire pit with ample seating. It's a dream setup that will make them want to spend the summer in their backyard!
