Western Red Cedar 5/4"x6"
Our mandate for this design was to retain the existing concrete patio while unifying the entire yard design. We therefore opted for a maintenance-free patio with a pergola to connect the patio and the pool. It is made of Trex Enhance Natural composite decking in Rocky Harbor.
The space is perfect for accommodating a dining area designed to comfortably seat 6 to 8 people. Lights adorn the stair risers, creating a lovely ambiance. To provide a shaded area for the occupants, we added a patio with a pergola to the existing concrete terrace. This pergola defines the barbecue area while offering privacy from the neighbors with its integrated cedar screen. The ideal spot to relax with a refreshing drink and keep an eye on the children in the pool!
The Western Red Cedar of the pergola is stained with a contrasting black and natural finish. This combination gives the structure a contemporary look and complements the composite decking. A cedar skirt, also stained black, encloses the underside of the patio and incorporates storage space—perfect for hiding pool accessories! Additionally, the pergola allows for the installation of towel hooks.
Ultimately, the homeowners wanted to maintain an unobstructed view of the pool. That's why we chose black aluminum and glass railings, which are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. These are the Murano model from Aluminium Distinction. To separate the pool area from the rest of the yard, we opted for the Standard bar railing model, which is more economical and very secure.
