When designing this pool patio, we had a very specific mandate. First, we had to build a patio that met all safety regulations for the pool. We also needed to create a private space that would allow the owners to enjoy it away from the neighbors' view. Ultimately, they wanted to be able to relax on this patio as if they were on vacation in the south.

At the client's request, we designed a medium-sized deck. It can accommodate three lounge chairs so they can relax and sunbathe by the pool. We built it using Trex's Ropeswing-colored composite decking from the Transcend Classic line. This material eliminates the need for maintenance. We chose this light, sand-like color because it doesn't get hot in the sun since it absorbs less heat than darker decking. Furthermore, it perfectly complements the color of the house.

The pool patio features a modern pergola made of Western Red Cedar stained in Sansin's Onyx Black. It was designed to accommodate curtain panels for privacy from the rear neighbors and also includes a retractable shade sail, allowing occupants to shield themselves from the sun.

Always with privacy in mind, we oriented the structure to screen the view of the front street behind the corner of the house. Below it, we installed a stained cedar skirt. It's the same color as the pergola, and we integrated storage opposite the shed. The railings are black to match the pergola. They are the Standard model from Aluminium Distinction with a self-closing, locking gate. This system ensures safety by restricting access to the pool. This setup proves that it's possible to enjoy our outdoor spaces here with ease, as if we were on vacation in the south.
