Our brief for this patio design was to create a dining area for about a dozen people, as well as a lounge area with a fireplace that could accommodate the same number of guests. We had to design a space that took into account the existing concrete patio, which we couldn't demolish. That's why we included it in our layout. It forms the first level at the patio door. This allowed us to create a barbecue area halfway between the kitchen and the outdoor table.

The patio's finished surface is Trex composite. We chose RopeSwing from the Transcend Classic line and Havana Gold from the Transcend Tropical line. We constructed the patio skirting from Onyx Black stained cedar to complement the black aluminum and glass Murano railings from Aluminium Distinction. The immense custom-built Western Red Cedar pergola is the centerpiece of this inviting space. It connects all the areas and provides privacy on both sides thanks to its perforated black aluminum panels, preserving the view of the backyard. It also features a retractable shade over the lounge area, allowing occupants to block out the sun when needed.

Between the two areas, we designed a built-in bench. We wanted to offer more seating for guests. It can also serve as a play area for children. The hammock placed in the corner of the lounge area provides a lovely relaxation spot. It's possible to enjoy the sun there, even when the hammock is closed. We included lighting above the table and in the risers of the steps. The owners wanted to be able to extend their time spent outdoors and enjoy it well into the evening.
