These clients commissioned us to design a custom veranda to cover their existing patio. Since they live in a wooded area, they wanted a pleasant outdoor space without being bothered by mosquitoes. Maintaining a beautiful view of the surrounding nature was also a priority. We therefore designed a traditional-style pine veranda that blends seamlessly with the property.

It is constructed of a solid planed white pine timber frame with a ceiling of Sansin Espresso-stained wood paneling. The mortise and tenon joinery ensures the structure's strength while eliminating any visible hardware. There are two entrances to the courtyard, one on each side, closed by screened doors. All other openings are also enclosed with screens fixed in wooden frames, providing complete protection for the occupants inside.

Next, the ceiling height and the placement of the openings allow light to reach the patio door. Furthermore, the transom windows echo the style of the house's windows. The veranda's roof is covered in brown asphalt shingles, identical to that of the house, which reinforces the integration of the new structure with the existing one, creating a unified whole.
