We designed this outdoor living space to unify the front and back of the house. We optimized the available space between the house and the detached garage. The first level connects the two patio doors, providing easy access to all the features and the steps leading down to the yard. The barbecue is located here, near the kitchen patio door for easy access. A small railing connected to the pergola surrounds the landing, ensuring safety.
The main landing includes a lounge area with a custom-built built-in bench. It also features a dining area that can accommodate a table for 6 to 8 people. We recessed the spa into this area for easier access. A pergola covers the entire terrace. We installed a retractable awning in two sections, allowing its occupants to enjoy or be shaded from the sun as they wish. It ends with a privacy wall made of horizontal wooden slats.
Corner stairs leading to the courtyard preserve the view from the house and main deck. We built two staircases providing access to the front yard. One of them leads to the garage and features floating steps. To maintain privacy, we also installed a wooden screen in front of these steps. The flooring is Trex composite in Havana Gold from the Transcend Tropical line. It offers the desirable look of wood, but without the maintenance. To complement this color, we chose to stain the privacy walls and the pergola in Sansin's Onyx Black and Espresso. We selected black Murano railings from Aluminium Distinction to enhance the project's contemporary look. Furthermore, their hybrid composition with glass allows us to preserve the view.
