This client already had a wooden patio and wanted to add a timber-frame gazebo to his design. He wasn't sure whether he preferred a covered patio or a separate shaded area. Our role was to help him decide, so we presented him with several possible design options.
First, the first two versions represent ways to design a freestanding gazebo. The third is a gazebo integrated into the patio, directly at the front door. All three are timber-frame gazebos made of knotty white pine. We chose Sansin's Espresso stain, a color that complements the house and matches the desired style. The ceiling is made of 6-inch-wide pine paneling, also stained Espresso. Furthermore, the height of the structure adds a unique character and allows light to enter the house in our third design.
The roof is made of asphalt shingles, identical to that of the house, to ensure a seamless integration of the new structure. Ultimately, all these options allow the client to incorporate several zones: a dining area for 8 to 10 people, a lounge area, and a spa. Depending on the chosen option, they can enjoy the summer as they please, in the sun or in the shade under their timber-framed gazebo.
