The design project we were tasked with for these clients involved reconfiguring their patio. They wanted it to be more ergonomic and better suited to their yard. We also needed to design a timberframe gazebo to replace their existing one, which they had purchased from a big-box store. We therefore opted for a TimberTech patio and a pine gazebo to meet all their needs.

First, the TimberTech Terrain Collection patio in Brown Oak features an asymmetrical shape. This design maximizes the available space between the house and the pool. We oriented the steps toward the paved section where the gazebo is located. Black Heritage model railings by Aluminium Distinction encircle the perimeter. Beneath the patio, a skirt of Sansin Onyx Black stained Western Red Cedar conceals storage, accessible through a door.

Facing the pool, the timber-framed gazebo of planed white pine is divided into two sections. A shingle roof with a pine-paneled ceiling covers a large area. This section houses the outdoor dining and lounge area, while the other section is dedicated to the barbecue area. A composite bar separates the two sections and can also serve as a food preparation counter. This section is sheltered by a pergola attached to the gazebo. Privacy walls, placed along the sides where the hedge grows, conceal the damage at the base of the trees.

Next, we incorporated black galvanized steel cutouts into the walls. This allowed us to create alcoves while also adding an interesting visual element. The walls also contribute to a warm and inviting atmosphere. The entire structure of the gazebo and pergola, as well as the privacy walls, are finished in alternating shades of Espresso and Onyx Black by Sansin to coordinate with the patio.
