The Trex patio with pergola designed for these clients fulfills several requirements. They wanted a private patio for outdoor cooking and dining. Sun protection was also a priority. We also needed to incorporate storage and provide them with a low-maintenance deck.
With the in-ground pool already installed, we needed to design a patio that would still allow for sufficient circulation space in the yard. We therefore opted for a long, narrow patio, attached to the house. Composite decking is the ideal material for a low-maintenance patio. That's why we chose Trex Transcend Tropical in Havana Gold. This color has the beautiful look of wood, without its drawbacks. We also made the skirting out of composite and integrated the storage behind it, under the patio.
The Western Red Cedar pergola frames the space. We've equipped it with a retractable awning to provide shade for the occupants if they wish. It features a composite privacy wall behind the barbecue with integrated alcoves. These alcoves are finished in Rope Swing with Spiced Rum trim to create a beautiful design detail. They are practical for storing kitchen items or simply for decorating the space.
Finally, to enclose the patio, we opted for glass railings to open up the view towards the pool. These are the Murano model from Aluminium Distinction. For the steps, we chose the Standard model. All the railings are brown to match the colors of the rest of the landscaping.
