TimberTech Legacy composite in Ashwood color

The custom design project we undertook for these clients aimed to create a private patio with a pergola at the entrance to their home. We had to incorporate all the existing elements of their outdoor space.

That's why we chose to design a shallow, elongated patio. This made sense given the narrow shape of the yard on this side of the house. It's made of TimberTech Legacy composite decking in Ashwood, a maintenance-free material with a timeless color. A timberframe pergola made of Western Red Cedar, stained in Sansin Rosewood, covers the patio. We incorporated black galvanized steel cutouts into the ceiling and along one entire side of the pergola. The openwork patterns with their sinuous curves allow climbing plants to cling to them. Over time, these will provide more privacy for the occupants while giving the patio a unique look.

At the back, a privacy wall shields the neighbors from view. It's made of Sansin Onyx Black stained Western Red Cedar planks mounted on black aluminum posts. We suggest adding planters to enhance its appearance. Since the side facing the yard doesn't require privacy, we opted for black aluminum and glass railings. These are the Murano model from Aluminium Distinction. Under the patio, we concealed storage behind the Onyx Black stained Western Red Cedar skirting.

Regarding the layout of the areas, the lounge section is located under the pergola. This is where the owners will spend most of their time, and they wanted it to be partially shaded. The dining area and barbecue are situated on the paved area. Since they are close to the door, they are easily accessible from the kitchen. Finally, the hot tub and fire pit are located at the back of the yard. This layout ensures ample space for easy access to the shed.
