Composite patio with pergola and privacy walls - L'Assomption, Lanaudière

Composite patio with pergola and privacy walls in L'Assomption

In L'Assomption, in the Lanaudière region, our client wanted to transform her backyard into a true outdoor living space, comfortable from morning to night.

We designed and built a TimberTech Edge Prime+ composite deck in Coconut Husk, accompanied by a large Toja pergola and warm cedar privacy walls.

The yard offered little shade in the afternoon, little privacy, and no clearly defined areas for relaxing, cooking, or accessing the pool. The client wanted a durable, low-maintenance design with a modern, warm look that would integrate well with the house.

Our concept: a structured, warm, and sustainable space

We designed a 256 sq ft main deck with 24 linear feet of stairs to facilitate movement between the house, yard, and pool. A 12 ft x 12 ft pergola creates a shaded lounge area, ideal for relaxing and entertaining friends.

To complete the setup, two distinct privacy walls—one for the lounge area and one for the BBQ space—provide protection from prying eyes and wind, while adding a design signature to the yard. A cedar skirt with doors under the patio also allows for neat storage of seasonal equipment.

A 3D design plan to validate the vision

Before starting the work, we created a comprehensive 3D design plan to allow the client to accurately visualize her future patio, the Toja pergola, and the privacy walls in her yard. This 3D rendering allowed her to envision the space, adjust certain details (proportions, layout of zones, choice of elements), and confidently approve the final concept before construction.

Materials selected for their exceptional quality and durability

  • Galvanized screw pile foundation for a stable structure, even with freezing and thawing.
  • Structure made of premium ACQ treated wood, protected by G-Tape and quality hardware.
  • TimberTech Edge Prime+ Coconut Husk composite decking, installed with Camo clips and matching Toploc screws.
  • Skirt and privacy walls in raw white cedar, mounted on black aluminum Hoft systems for a modern and clean result.
  • Barrette RDI MetalWorks Excalibur black steel railings, including pool access gate for optimal safety.
  • Toja pergola combining raw hemlock, Rothoblaas anchors and 10' x 10' Graphite shade sail.

Every material choice aims for durability, ease of maintenance, and an aesthetic consistent with the house's style.

A one-week project

All work was completed in one week, i.e., 5 days on site. Our teams successively installed the piles, built the structure, laid the composite, the skirt, the ramps, the pergola, and the privacy walls, all while maintaining a neat finish at every stage.

A new way to enjoy your yard

Today, the client enjoys a large, convivial patio, a lounge area under the pergola, a functional BBQ zone, and safe access to the pool. The space is used daily for meals, relaxation, and entertaining guests, serving as a true extension of the home.
