This project went through a custom design process before construction. A few minor modifications were made to the initial plan, but the essence of the project remained the same. This client wanted a large terrace extending from the house, featuring a dining area and lounge beneath a vast pergola. The occupants needed to be protected from the sun and rain while enjoying an unobstructed view of the in-ground pool.

That's why we suggested a long, narrow deck close to ground level. Since the pool was already secured with a glass fence, we didn't need to add railings to the patio if it was less than 24 inches above ground level, which would allow us to maintain the view. A first level is needed at the house's exit and houses the barbecue. The second level is the main living area.

The patio is made of TimberTech composite in Driftwood. This maintenance-free material offers a similar look without the drawbacks. The pergola is made of hemlock and assembled with black Toja fasteners. A retractable shade sail covers the area needed to shelter the dining and lounge areas. Privacy walls have been added behind the barbecue area to secure it, and at the end of the patio behind the lounge area as a visual element.

In the pool area, a second lounge zone is located beneath a smaller pergola. Like the main pergola, it is made of hemlock with Toja fittings. A fixed Toja shade sail in Graphite provides sun protection. A replica of the Hoft privacy wall, found behind the other lounge, is installed between the columns at the far end. The Hideaway aluminum cutout, Moderna model, adds an interesting visual element while creating a connection between the different areas of the courtyard.

Finally, to enhance the décor, we installed In-lite recessed lights in the patio risers and in the riser between the two landings. In addition to adding to the look, they illuminate the walkways. This complete outdoor renovation will benefit the whole family and create wonderful summer memories!
